We often complain about maladministration but ignoring the fact that our leaders are the reflection of our society, in every democracy people get the government they deserve.
No angel is coming down from heaven to govern us, so we need to do self introspection and let the change start with us individually. some attributes such as patriotism, probity, humility, altruism, beneficence, empathy, compassion and munificence are seriously lacking in our country today which I consider an aberration, disorder and anomaly that must be addressed.
If all we think about is waiting for an opportunity to have our own share of national cake or cheat one another, then something is fundamentally wrong somewhere, what I also despise is blatant hypocrisy and prigishness, some of our people are too sanctimonious and that remains a big problem.
We criticize our leaders for wrongdoing but we are not better than them, some unwholesome things we do behind the scenes are unspeakable, if you are such a person then you have no moral authority to criticize the misdemeanors of others.
How we treat people around us is the same way we will lead the country if given the opportunity to serve our fatherland.
Anyone that cares about the welfare and wellbeing of others will make a good leader, but pretending to be Saint and righteous while castigating other people is unacceptable.
If you are a type that renders unsolicited and humanitarian help, then continue, someday your unstinting gestures will pay big and such a person will do great things as well.
Sometimes we wittingly and unwittingly engage in pernicious acts that will compound our problems due to greed, we all want to live happily at all cost not minding the discommode it will cause other people around us.
We all have a role to play in making our country great, we have seen how people assist each other in advanced countries of Europe, Asia, north and south America during emergencies and other natural disasters, we can learn from them the spirit of good neighbourliness and sportsmanship, our humanity should always be shown to one another in times of crisis and economic hardship.
We must not be in government before we can help others, we can make positive impact anywhere in the society starting from our homes, market places, on the streets, in schools, churches and mosques. living examplary life is a choice and a tough decision but we need people of substance that care about others around them, don't be insensitive to the plight of others around you. the indigent, underclass and downtrodden need your little help.
I can assure you that if we all internalise and imbibe good virtues, not only will our society change, we are also building a generation that will outlive us, be the change you want to see. God bless Nigeria and thanks for taking your time to read this
